The Naples beach day carry list

What to pack for a pier sunset or a full day at Vanderbilt Beach, from glare-cutting sunglasses to a car kit that waits in the trunk.

A Naples beach day can be an hour at the pier for sunset or a full afternoon at Vanderbilt Beach. Either way, the bag you grab on the way out decides whether the day is easy. This is the list our team keeps by the door.

1. Something for the glare

Midday light off the Gulf is bright. A pair of Aviator Sunglasses for Men Women lives in the car so nobody has to remember them. The yellow lenses also help on the drive home after sunset.

2. Shoes that don't mind sand

Flip-flops are fine until the boardwalk gets hot. Grounded Barefoot Footwear for Women Men are light enough to carry, dry quickly and feel close to barefoot on the sand.

3. A trunk kit you forget about

A flat tire on Gulf Shore Boulevard is a long wait in the heat. An Everlit Survival Car Emergency Kit and a cordless Tire Inflator Portable Air Compressor take up a corner of the trunk and turn a problem into a ten-minute stop.

4. The small extras

  • A refillable water bottle per person, frozen half full the night before.
  • Reef-friendly sunscreen and a hat.
  • A towel for the car seat, because the sand always comes home.
  • A phone charger and a small first aid pouch.

Before you leave

Check the beach parking app for spaces, look at the rip current flag and plan to be off the sand when the afternoon storms build in summer. Then enjoy the sunset.
